Dubai Lynx sees SA Talent on the Jury once again
Cinemark, the local representatives of Cannes Lions, is pleased to announce that three of South Africa’s top talent have been chosen to serve on the jury at The Dubai Lynx, MENA’s leading awards and festival of creativity, taking place from 8 March to 10 March 2015, again showing just how world-class our local industry is.
Fran Luckin, Executive Director of Quirk South Africa, Ana Carrapichano, Group Managing Director of Mediology South Africa and Collette Wasielewski, Head of Design for FCB Joburg will be representing the country as they take their places amongst 48 esteemed creatives from around the globe to judge this phenomenal festival. An awards and festival of creativity at the forefront of communications in the Middle East and North Africa, it culminates in the actual awards ceremony on 11 March.
Luckin, who will be serving on the Film, Print, Outdoor & Radio Jury and Print Craft Jury, has been in advertising for nearly two decades. She completed a BA Honours at the University of Natal and spent a year at the AAA School of Advertising and hasn’t looked back since with experience at established creative entities such as The Jupiter Drawing Room, TBWA/Hunt Lascaris and Ogilvy. She also sits on the Executive Committee of South Africa’s Creative Circle and has judged international and local creative awards shows. In 2012, she was appointed to the Ogilvy Worldwide Creative Council – an amazing privilege and honour. With awards such as the Loerie Grand Prix, Cannes Film Gold, One Show Gold Pencil for Film and Gold Loeries under her belt as well as experience with a range of blue-chip clients, it is no wonder that Luckin was named one of the top ten most influential people in South African advertising in The Annual 2009.
The Media Jury will see Carrapichano bringing over 25 years of experience in both global and local markets and brands to the table as she serves as a judge. Carrapichano has an established reputation as a passionate media professional who is committed to recognising and developing talent, contributing to growth of the industry. She serves as a volunteer to many industry bodies and associations across the country, including positions on the ACA Apex Jury and the AMASA Awards Jury. She has also held executive positions at Saatchi & Saatchi, Universal McCann and Zenith Optimedia before founding South Africa’s largest media independent: Mediology. Under her wing, Mediology has won several awards over the past nine years with five of them being Media Agency of the Year (AdReview).
These three South African industry role players will represent the country as they discuss and evaluate entries to the competition with their fellow jury members from around the world.
Cinemark’s Yvonne Diogo says: “It is a huge achievement to have three South Africans serving on such a jury. It is an opportunity to partake in the global creative arena and put South Africa on the map once again.”
As the local representatives of Cannes Lions and its affiliated festivals, one of Cinemark’s goals is to secure positions on the various juries for South Africans. Diogo explains that this is quite a challenge as there are numerous international contenders on the scene and that Cinemark is thrilled that individuals of such high calibre will be representing the country as judges at Dubai Lynx 2015.
The Dubai Lynx International Festival of Creativity is the Middle East and North Africa region’s annual must-attend event for the advertising and communications industry to learn, be inspired, network and celebrate.
