Another local to Judge at Cannes
The 2014 juries that have been chosen for the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity have so far been a huge tribute to the South African industry with a large local representation. Now, another home grown legend joins the ranks for the international festival, which kicks off from 15 June to 21 June, in the form of Mark Tomlinson.
Mark, who has a range of experience under his belt, will be serving on the Mobile jury, a position South Africa was chosen to fill.
With 15 years’ experience, Mark began his digital career in 1997 and was part of the early digital entrepreneurs in South Africa, founding his first digital agency in 1999. In 2005, he co-founded Hellocomputer, a leading creative digital agency producing award winning work for the likes of Toyota, SAB, Vodacom and the Joburg Zoo with the first ever Tweeting Badger.
Mark will be a strong South African representative this year with his work published in Taschen’s Web Navigation and experience as a judge for the Loeries, the international FWA awards and the DMMA’s Digital Creative Circle judging panel. He has also served as a committee member for the Bookmarks Awards organising committee.
With his accounts including Pernod Ricard, Toyota, Cell C and Investec, Mark joins a diverse group of judges who have already been appointed to represent South Africa at Cannes Lions this year. This includes Kirk Gainsford for Film, Mariana O’Kelly for Press, Brett Morris for Outdoor, Erica Gunning for Media, Bridget Johnson for the Direct category, Adam Livesey for the Promo & Activation category, Sulet Jansen for the Design category and Vanessa Pearson for Radio.
“Mark is a proud addition to this team of jurors who will be representing South Africa at Cannes Lions this year,” says Cinemark’s Marketing Manager Yvonne Diogo. “His work has received recognition at the Loeries, the FWA’s, the Webbys, the Design Indaba Construction New Media Awards, The Bookmarks and the One Show.”
She adds: “All judges that have been chosen are greatly respected and admired in the industry and Mark is no exception,” she adds.
